10kW Solar System Price in Pakistan for Shops, Offices and Small Businesses

The 10kW solar system price in Pakistan depends mostly on one decision: on-grid, hybrid, or hybrid with battery storage. For a business, 10 kW is a common size for a shop, a small office, a clinic, a school block or a workshop that runs most of its load in daylight. This guide breaks down the cost by component, shows which parts come from the equipment supplier and which from your installer, estimates how many units a 10kW system makes each month in Pakistan, and shows how much roof it needs.

10kW solar system price in Pakistan: three options

A "10kW system" means about 10 kilowatts of solar panels. What sits behind the panels changes the price far more than the panels themselves.

System type What it includes Works during load-shedding? Price range (PKR)
On-grid (grid-tied) Panels, on-grid inverter, structure, cabling No, shuts down for safety when the grid is off Ask for today's price
Hybrid without batteries Panels, hybrid inverter, structure, cabling Limited; most hybrid inverters need a battery for backup Ask for today's price
Hybrid with battery storage Panels, hybrid inverter, LiFePO4 battery storage, structure, cabling Yes, runs selected loads from battery and solar Ask for today's price

If you plan to apply for net billing with your DISCO, add the meter and paperwork stage to your budget. See our net metering in Pakistan guide for how that works now. For a side-by-side view of system types, read on-grid vs hybrid solar system.

Where cheap quotes cut corners

Two quotes for a 10kW solar system can differ widely, and the gap is rarely in the panels. It usually hides in the parts most buyers never look at:

  • Thin or untreated structure. Mild steel rusts within a few years, and faster in humid coastal air. Galvanised structure lasts much longer.
  • Undersized cable. Thin DC cable runs hot and loses power, and in summer heat above 45 °C that becomes a safety risk.
  • No surge protection or earthing. These protect the inverter, which is the most expensive single part after the panels.
  • Unknown inverter brand. A known brand with app-based monitoring, such as Sungrow, lets you see daily output and spot faults early.

Ask every installer for a line-by-line bill of materials with brands and sizes. If you are buying panels and inverters yourself, get the model numbers in writing from your supplier too.

How many units does a 10kW solar system generate in Pakistan?

This is the question that decides your payback. Here is a sensible estimate, with the working shown.

The estimate

Published studies put Pakistan's average solar output at roughly 4.1 to 4.5 kWh per kW of installed panels per day (KFUPM study, Energy Science & Engineering, 2022). One kWh is one unit on your bill. Across the country, that works out to roughly 120 to 140 units per kW per month, depending on region and season. Our solar calculator uses a conservative 125.

For a 10kW system:

  • Per month: 10 kW × 120 to 140 units = about 1,200 to 1,400 units
  • Per day: about 40 to 46 units on average
  • Per year: about 14,400 to 16,800 units

Why your number may differ

  • Season. Output is higher in spring and early summer. It drops in the monsoon months, when cloud cover is heavy, and in winter, when days are shorter. In much of Punjab, winter fog and smog cut output further for weeks at a time.
  • Dust. Dust settles fast on panels near main roads, markets and industrial areas. A system that is not cleaned regularly can lose a noticeable share of its output. Agree a cleaning routine with your installer or site staff.
  • Heat. Panels lose a little efficiency as they get hotter, and summer roofs in Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan get very hot. N-type panels handle heat better than older P-type stock.
  • Shade and direction. A water tank, a signboard, a neighbouring building or a stairwell casting shade for even two hours a day can reduce output on a whole string of panels.
  • Inverter sizing and losses. Cable losses, inverter efficiency and clipping all take a small cut.

Your inverter app will show real daily output once the system is running. Use the first full year as your baseline.

What 1,200 to 1,400 units a month covers

Pull out your electricity bills for the last 12 months and look at the units, not the rupees. If your summer months sit somewhere around 1,000 to 1,500 units, a 10kW system can cover a large share of that, especially daytime AC, lighting, refrigeration and office equipment. If they sit well above that, you may need a larger commercial solar system. Enter your bill in our solar calculator for a rough match.

How much roof space does a 10kW solar system need?

With panels around 600 W, you need about 17 panels for 10 kW. Each panel is roughly 2.3 to 2.4 metres long and just over 1.1 metres wide, so the panels alone cover about 45 to 50 square metres.

Once you add gaps between rows, walkways for cleaning and space around water tanks and AC outdoor units, plan for roughly 600 to 900 square feet of clear, shade-free roof. The exact figure depends on tilt, row spacing and the roof's shape. A raised structure can free up roof space underneath for storage or parking.

Flat RCC roofs are the easiest. Sloped or metal-sheet roofs need a different structure and a check of load capacity. Your installer should confirm this on site before you order equipment. In a shared commercial building, check who controls the roof first.

On-grid, hybrid or storage: which 10kW system suits your business?

Choose on-grid if

  • Your business runs mainly during daylight hours, such as a 9 to 6 office or a daytime shop.
  • You have fairly stable grid supply and little load-shedding.
  • You plan to apply for net billing with your DISCO.
  • You want the lowest upfront cost and fastest payback.

Choose hybrid if

  • Your area has long load-shedding hours and you are tired of running a generator.
  • You want the option to add battery storage later.
  • You stay open into the evening and want to use more of your own solar after sunset, which matters more now that exported units earn less than imported units cost.

Add battery storage if

  • You need power during outages for lights, fans, POS terminals, display chillers, medicine fridges, Wi-Fi or one or two ACs.
  • You want to cut evening imports from the grid.

10 kW solar system price in Pakistan with net metering

Many buyers search for the 10 kW solar system price in Pakistan with net metering as one figure. In practice, the system cost and the net billing cost are separate. You buy the equipment, your installer installs it, and your DISCO issues an estimate for the meter and connection work after its own inspection. Under NEPRA's 2026 Prosumer Regulations, exported units earn a lower rate than you pay for imports (Business Recorder), so a 10kW system makes most sense when a good share of its output is used on site during business hours.

FAQ

What is the 10kW solar system price in Pakistan right now?

It changes weekly with panel rates, the dollar and the inverter you choose. A hybrid system with battery storage costs considerably more than an on-grid one. Message us on WhatsApp for today's price on panels and inverters, and ask your installer for structure and labour.

How many units does a 10kW solar system produce per month in Pakistan?

A clean, unshaded system typically produces around 1,200 to 1,400 units a month, depending on region and season, with more in spring and less during the monsoon and winter.

Can a 10kW solar system run a shop's air conditioners?

Yes. During the day, a 10kW system can run several inverter ACs along with lighting and other shop loads. At night or during load-shedding you need battery storage and a hybrid inverter.

Do I need three-phase supply for a 10kW system?

Many 10kW systems connect to three-phase supply, but it depends on your existing connection and sanctioned load. Check the connection type on your electricity bill and tell us when you ask for a quote, so we suggest the right single-phase or three-phase inverter.

Does EGS install the 10kW system?

No. EGS supplies the equipment. Your own installer or EPC contractor handles installation, cabling, structure and commissioning.
